Home	Welcome to Wildcat Country! A Message from our Principal: Welcome to the Beech Mountain School web page. We are a K-8 school located in the beautiful Whaley community of Avery County. We are proud of the educational accomplishments of our school. Our school has a rich history with incredible parent involvement and community support. We currently have 60 students enrolled. Beech Mountain has been A School of Distinction or a School of Excellence since the late 1990s. The faculty and administration of Beech Mountain School have a strong tradition of high expectations and accomplishments. Our students participate in music, art, physical education, library, and technology weekly. Our school is also participating in GEAR UP through a partnership with Appalachian State University. This is a federally funded program that is designed to help students be prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. Beech Mountain School is an A+ school which recognizes the importance of the arts and integrates the arts into core subjects. We have been part of the A+ network since its inception 10 years ago. We are proud of our school and the important role that it has played in the community throughout the decades. We would welcome you to stop by for a visit.
